ASHVILLE — Hanna Shrout can let out a shout. She’s state bound.
The Fairland Lady Dragons’ sophomore golfer earned medalist honors at the girls Division II district tournament and earned the first trip to the state tournament by a Fairland girl.
The top team and individual finisher qualified for the state tournament to be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, at the Ohio State University Gray Course.
Shrout had rounds of 42 and 40 for an 80 total overall to win by two shots over Ashley Offenberger of Waterford.
McKenzie Dietz of Waterford was third at 89 while Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ senior Alex Gillette — a state qualifier last year — shot a 90 on rounds of 42 and 48 and tied for fourth place.
Shrout and Gillette were the only two local golfers who qualified for the district tournament.
Waterford won the team championship with a 358 total. Greenfield McClain was next at 417, West Union 418, Westfall 420, Gallipolis 432 and Meigs 439.
The tournament was played at the Upper Landsdown Golf Club which is a Par 72, 6,691-yard course.
