LLOYD, Ky. — Now that’s the way to begin the season.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets won their volleyball season opener in thrilling fashion as they beat the Greenup County Lady Musketeers 25-19, 26-24, 14-25, 10-25 and 15-7 in the tiebreaker on Wednesday.
Coal Grove took a 21-8 lead in the first set before Greenup ran off 11 straight points and it was 20-19. But the Lady Hornets regained the momentum to win.
Greenup built a 17-3 lead in the fourth set to win 25-10 and tie the match. But Coal Grove jumped ahead 8-3 in the tiebreaker and went on to get the win.
In the reserve match, Greenup won two tough sets, 22-20 and 21-19.
