ASHLAND, Ky. – Anyone driving through the south side of Ashland may face some traffic delays because of a water line break.
The break is on U.S. 23 at 39th Street and the road has been reduced to one lane as city crews fix the water line. The time it will take to make repairs is unknown.
Because of the water line break, College Drive Campus was closed at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and all day and evening classes have been cancelled.
The ACTC Roberts Drive Campus and Technology Drive Campus day and evening classes will meet as scheduled.
The admissions and advising offices will be closed at CDC, but will be open at the TDC campus for students who would like to go there for assistance.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said that it’s likely traffic impacts will remain for several days. Until further notice, through traffic and large or commercial vehicles should avoid the area and consider alternate routes, such as:
- Northbound U.S. 23 traffic, use I-64 east and the West Huntington bridge to connect to US 52 west in Ohio to return to U.S. 23 at downtown Ashland. Or, take I-64 west to Exit 185 for Ashland via US 60.
- US 23-bound traffic traveling on I-64 should use Exit 185 at KY 180 to reroute using U.S. 60 into downtown Ashland to reconnect to U.S. 23 or U.S. 52 in Ohio. Or, use the Industrial Park (KY 67) exit to reach US 23 north of Ashland.
- Southbound U.S. 23 traffic, can reroute by crossing into Ohio and using U.S. 52 to reroute to I-64 west to return to U.S. 23; or use U.S. 60 west to reach I-64, then turn east to reconnect with U.S. 23.
