ASHLAND — The Paramount Arts Center has announced two more artists for this year’s concert line-up.
KC and the Sunshine Band are set to perform on Aug. 26, while the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will play at the theater on Sept. 9.
Founded in 1973 and led by songwriter Harry Wayne “KC” Casey, the Sunshine Band ruled the charts in the disco era of the 1970s, amassing five number one hits, such as “Get Down Tonight” and “That’s the Way (I Like It).”
Their self-titled album and one of its follow-ups, “Part 3,” each went triple platinum in the U.S.
The band’s music, a mix of disco and funk, was also featured, alongside the work of the Bee Gees in the 1977 film “Saturday Night Fever,” for which the soundtrack sold 15 million copies.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band are among the most acclaimed artists to record in the genres of country and Americana.
The group has existed since the 1960s, with guitarist and singer Jeff Hanna and drummer Jimmie Fadden and a rotating membership.
The group’s 1972 album “Will the Circle be Unbroken” is hailed as a landmark release and was a collaboration with many giants of country and bluegrass, such as Roy Acuff, Bashful Brother Oswald, Earl Scruggs, Mother Maybelle Carter and Merle Travis.
The two bands join a line-up including Martina McBride on Aug. 10, Trace Adkins on Oct. 7 and Emmylou Harris on Nov. 3.
