This letter is to inform the citizens, living within the city limits of Ironton, that starting June 19, 2017, anyone leaving grass clippings, leaves or other debris in the gutter will be citied into court.
This is in response to the non compliance of individuals who continue to cut and blow their clippings into the street, allowing them to be blown or carried into the drain system by rain water, further damaging the storm water system.
Ordinance 660.04 Noxious Odors: Filthy Accumulations Polluting & Diverting water courses, is 60 days and/or a $500 fine.
Be aware that the garbage collectors are to pick up daily household trash. They are not responsible to haul away mattresses, box springs, furniture of any kind or household appliances. These need to be hauled away by the owner and disposed of properly. Placing these items in the alley is also a failure to comply with city ordinances and you can and will be cited into court, Violating Ordinance 660.031 Illegal dumping in alley/ways can lead to 60 days and/or $500.00 fine. Failure to cut your yard, in compliance with Ordinance 660.16 removal of noxious weeds and litter, can lead to 90 days and/or $750.00 fine.
The City of Ironton Health Department thanks you for your help in keeping Ironton clean.
