Track, girl’s basketball, football coaches approved
The Dawson-Bryant School Board returned from executive session on Monday evening to hire a number of staff members, including new coaches.
The board took action on Monday evening to approve the hiring of a middle school baseball coach, assistant cross-country coach for the high school, an assistant girl’s basketball coach, and a head football coach.
Nick Howard will be joining Dawson-Bryant next year as their new middle school baseball coach.
At the high school, Haley Edwards will serve as a new assistant cross-country coach for both boys and girls, and Ashley Adkins will serve as the new assistant coach for the girl’s basketball team.
The new head football coach for Dawson-Bryant High School will be Evan Ferguson.
In other action, the board moved to approve the employment of new substitute custodians, a substitute bus driver, and to renew certified staff contracts. They also moved not to renew one classified staff contract and to approve renewal of the remaining classified staff contracts.
They also approved a contract for safety technique workshops at a new discounted rate. Where previously they would have paid $1,000 per school, they will now pay $1500 for the entire district.
The Dawson-Bryant School Board will hold one more meeting, date to be determined, before the school year ends.
