Trojans rally late to pull away from Dragons

PROCTORVILLE — The Portsmouth Trojans erased an early Fairland lead and beat the Dragons 10-5 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Zach Kinney went the distance to get the win as he struck out seven, walked three, gave up eight hits and three earned runs.
Dylan Raines went five innings in taking the loss. He struck out four, walked one, gave up eight hits and five of the six runs he allowed were earned.
Zach Crawford went 2-4 with two runs batted in to lead the Fairland offense. Eli Bowen was 2-4 with an RBI and Dairus Stapleton 1-3 with an RBI.
Ryan Williams was 2-4 with four RBI for Portsmouth and Reese Johnson 3-5 with two RBI. Mikey Potts was 1-3 with two RBI as the Trojans’ offense had 10 hits.
Fairland led 1-0 after the first inning but Portsmouth got single runs in the second and third to lead 2-1.
Fairland tied the game in the fourth only to have the Trojans get four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to open up a 9-2 lead.
Fairland visits Ironton on Wednesday.
