FRANKLIN FURNACE — Drew Ramey made a memorable pitching debut.
Ramey’s first varsity start was a six-hitter as the Green Bobcats beat the South Gallia Rebels 13-3 in six innings on Wednesday.
Ramey only struck out two but did not walk a batter.
“Ramey just threw strikes and we played defense behind him. We played pretty crisp defense tonight. We just went out and took care of business,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
Green (7-2) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Tanner Kimbler was hit by a pitch, Tyler Darnell singled and Tayte Carver doubled them home. Carver scored on a sacrifice fly by Trevor Carver.
The lead went to 7-0 in the second.
Derrick Brown walked, Trevor Darnell put down a sacrifice, Kimbler beat out an infield hit and Darnell had an RBI single. Tayte Carver was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Trevor Carver hit into a force play for an RBI.
Ramey and Rylie Maynard followed with RBI singles.
The Rebels got two in the top of the third but the Bobcats got them back in the bottom of the inning when Brown singled and Tyler Darnell and Tayte Carver hit back-to-back RBI doubles with two outs.
Two more runs scored in the fourth.
Ethan Carpenter and Hayden Whitis singled, both moved up on a wild pitch and Tyler Imes had a two-run single.
Whitis reached on an error, Austin Bailey singled, Trevor Darnell walked and a wild pitch scored Whitis. Kimbler was intentionally walked to load the bases and Tyler Darnell walked to force in the final run.
Tayte Carver was 2-2 with two doubles and three RBI and Tyler Darnell was 3-3 with a double and three RBI.
Green hosts Eastern on Thursday.
