The only thing that could have spoiled the day would have been a law requiring the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers get a permit.
Ironton enjoyed a hit parade but no legal permit is required in softball as the Lady Tigers spanked out 19 hits en route to a 20-0 five-inning win over the Northwest Lady Mohawks on Tuesday.
The one-two punch of Aley Carmon and Ruth Paholsky led the parade. Carmon was 4-4 with two doubles, a triple and four runs batted in. Paholsky was 3-3 with two doubles and four RBI.
Haylee Stevens went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI, M’Kenzie McMaster was 2-2 with two triples and two RBI and Shay Cox was 2-4.
Also getting hits were Peighton Rowe who had a double and two RBI, Sophia Caines had a double and an RBI, and Riley Schreck, Kenzie Cremeens, Rylie Vaughn and Taiya Hamlet all got hits.
Mary Beth Burton went three innings to get the win. She struck out four, walked one and did not allow a hit. Rowe tossed two innings of one-hit shutout ball.
Ironton (3-0) scored four runs in the first inning with two outs.
Cremeens walked, Carmon tripled, Paholsky doubled, McMaster triple and Cox singled.
Ironton came back with seven runs in the second.
Stvens triples and Burton reached on an error. Cremeens was safe on an error, Carmon doubled, Paholsky singled, McMaster walked, Vaughn singled, Haleigh Rowe walked and Stevens singled.
Cremeens reached on an error to start an eight-run third inning.
Carmon singled, Paholsky doubled and McMaster had another triple. Caines doubled, Stevens walked and Rowe and Cremeens singled. Carmon then doubled to cap the rally.
A run scored in the fourth when Schreck, Cox and Hamlet all singled.
Ironton hosts Coal Grove on Wednesday.
