Paul Pierce
Nov. 4, 1936 — March 9, 2017

Paul W. Pierce, 80, of Ohio Furnace, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Nov. 4, 1936, a son of the late Edmond and Elizabeth Sprouse Pierce.
Mr. Pierce attended Hanging Rock, Green Township and Ironton Schools. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean War, and a former building contractor for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 430 in Raceland, Kentucky, the VFW Post 1064 in Huntington, the DAV Post 51 in Ironton, and a member of the American Motorcycle Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Rae Pierce-Prescott; a sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Whitt; and a brother, Edward Pierce.
He is survived by a daughter, Tracie Lujan, of Ironton; two grandchildren, Karlie Lujan, who is studying at the University of Kentucky, and Andy Chavarria, who is an Airman in the United States Air Force; and his best pal and companion, his dog, Travis.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Kenny Klaiber officiating. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Monroe Boyd, Mike McBride, Andy Chavarria, Travis Stormes, Frank Murphy, Noah Kilpatrick and Ryan Gilmore. Charles Wilson
Nov. 15, 1949 — March 9, 2017

Charles Virgil Wilson, 67, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Gothenberg, Nebraska native was born Nov. 15, 1949, a son of the late Charles Percival and Barbara A. Kinney. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Juanita Wilson.
Mr. Wilson attended Roosevelt High School in Coffeeville, Kansas, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Katy (Danny) Sergent, of Ironton; two sons, Charles V. (Tricia) Wilson, of Ashland, Kentucky, and Stephen (Amanda) Wilson, of Ironton; five grandchildren, Molly (Cory Adkins) Sergent, Justin Schipmann, and Emily Schipmann, all of Ashland, Kentucky, and Joseph Wilson and Caleb Wilson, both of Ironton; a sister, Alice (Pat) Viebey, of Florida; and a brother, Weylin Wilson, of Florida.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850.

Wayne Meade
Feb. 3, 1951 — March 9, 2017

Wayne Joseph Meade, 66, of South Point, passed away Thursday March 9, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Wayne was born February 3, 1951 in Maher, West Virginia, a son of Thelma Naomi Muldrew Albright and the late Herman Earl Meade.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by two daughters, Karrie Meade and Layla Meade; and three brothers, Bill Meade, Steve Meade and Jonny Meade.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Rhianna Meade, Christopher Meade, Chancey Meade , Wayne Meade, Jr.and Aaron Freeman :; three sisters, Pearl Fitzpatrick, Jenny Kirk and Barbara Bradley; two brothers, Ricky Meade and Randy Meade; grandchildren, Katelyn Lake, Aleyha Meade, Mariah Meade and 4 others; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, March 13, 2017 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, OH. Friends may call 1 hour prioir to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with expenses. Roger Short, Jr.
Roger Lee Short, Jr., 42, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Short.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Phyllis Farris
Phyllis Jean Farris, 76, of Willow Wood, died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cenetery Cemetery, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Eddie Salmons officiating. There will be no visitation. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Glen Kearns, Jr.
Glen “Butch” Edward Kearns, Jr., 67, of Ironton, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Russell, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Gannon Kearns. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery with Father David Huffman officiating. There will be no public visitation.
