Open house is Monday
The Ironton community doesn’t have to wait much longer for Tudor’s biscuits, as the newest Tudor’s Biscuit World location is on track to open Tuesday, March 7 with an open house Monday evening, March 6.
“We’re having our open house from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, which will give people a chance to come in, see the restaurant and check out what we have to offer,” Tudor’s Vice President Greg Atkinson said. “We’ll be giving away sausage biscuits, BBQ sandwiches and beverages, and it’s totally free. On Tuesday morning, we’ll officially be open for business at 5:30 a.m.”
Atkinson added that he expects Monday’s open house to draw a large crowd.
“We’re anticipating a huge turnout for the open house. We’ve seen some of our open houses have 300 or 400 people,” he said. “We think the open house is a great way to say that we’re glad to be here and glad to be part of the community. Hopefully a lot of the people who come check it out will be back to see us after that.”
Atkinson said that, for the rest of this week, final preparations would be done at the restaurant in preparation for the opening.
“We’re finishing some final equipment connections, Pepsi is coming tomorrow (Thursday) to finish up their work, and have our opening inspection with the health department later this week,” he said. “We have half of our staff here today (Wednesday) doing some training and cleanup, and the other half will come in tomorrow (Thursday). When it comes to opening a new store, we split it in half because otherwise it gets too crowded with all of the employees and other people here finishing up work on the restaurant.”
Work that was finished up on Wednesday included installing all of the equipment, the register system and all other final preparations.
Atkinson said that the rest of the week up through Saturday would be used to fire up all of the equipment to make a few test runs before the opening.
The Ironton Tudor’s Biscuit World has 33 employees, with all except about four coming from the open interviews. The four who previously worked for Tudor’s moved from the Ashland location, and will primarily be members of the management team.
“It’s always good to include a few veterans from another store to come in and help get everything started with the new employees,” Atkinson said.
Beginning on Tuesday, Tudor’s operating hours are 5:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday. The Ironton Tudor’s Biscuit World is located at the corner of Sixth Street and Park Avenue in downtown Ironton.
