The St. Joseph Female Flyers got their two minute warning out of the way early.
The Female Flyers fell behind early but bounced back to edge the Rock Hill Redwomen 44-41 on Wednesday.
“We played our best game of the year after the first two minutes,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.
“We didn’t have many turnovers, we shot pretty well and we made good decisions.”
The Female Flyers had 12 turnovers but four came in the first two minutes of the game.
Rock Hill jumped out to an 8-0 as Maddie Scott scored six points, but Morgan Turner scored eight points as the Female Flyers rallied to within 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.
The Redwomen were up 20-18 at the half and started strong in the second half as Taylor Hall and Scott scored four points each.
But Grace Miller hit a pair of 12-footers, Kaitlyn Sheridan hit 15-footer and Megan Riley made a 3-pointer as St. Joseph was down 34-29 in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter comeback, Turner hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored seven points and Ashlee Blankenship had two key put-backs as the Female Flyers outscored the Redwomen 15-7.
Turner scored a game-high 18 points to lead St. Joseph (8-9).
Ashley Bartram had six points and five rebounds, Riley six points, five rebounds and three steals, Blankenship six rebounds and Sheridan four assists.
Rock Hill (6-10) was led by Anna Darby with 16 points and Scott had 12. Hall added six points and Jill Hairston five.
Rock Hill is at Chesapeake on Thursday. St. Joseph hosts Federal Hocking at noon on Saturday and Ohio Valley Christian at 6 p.m. on Monday.
