Virgil Waddle
July 7, 1949 — Jan. 23, 2017
Virgil David Waddle, 67, of Coal Grove, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born July 7, 1949, a son of the late Thomas and Laura Collins Waddle.
Virgil attended Dawson-Bryant High School and was a former self employed laborer. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Rita Waddle Rudman, Thelma “Sissy” Waddle, Vada Waddle Sisler and Gail Waddle; and a brother, Cecil Waddle.
He is survived by his significant other, Karen Waddle, of Pedro; three daughters, Tami Hanshaw and Tina Howell, both of Ironton, and Sherrie Howell, of Portsmouth; a son, Scott Holston, of Pedro; four brothers, Jim Waddle, of Ashland, KY, Tommy Waddle, of Coal Grove, Donald Waddle, of Kitts Hill, and Bob Waddle, of Forestdale; two sisters, Marget Waddle and Flo Evans, both of Coal Grove; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Minister Rick Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
Billie Rae Stanley
Billie Rae Stanley, 65, of Greenup, Kentucky, formerly of South Point, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sabrina Gumbert; parents, Eugene and Freda Owens; grandparents, Jarvey and Dove Owens; and sisters, Judy Sanders and Debbie Winters.
She is survived by three sisters, Nancy (Bill) VanBibber, of South Point, Mary Owens, of South Point, and Jullie (Dale) Stidham, of Yoncalla, Oregon; one grandson, James David Gumbert, of Greenup, Kentucky.
Visitation and memorial service for family and friends will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Methodist Church in Grayson, Kentucky. Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Richard Sarver
Richard Earl Sarver, 70, of Proctorville, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Tayna Sarver.

Brenda Gay Elliott, 77, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
John Conley Jr.
John Conley, Jr., 86 of South Point, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Diane Conley.
