SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers are on a four-game winning streak and they’ve done it with the same formula.
The Lady Pointers used a team effort to beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 56-52 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
“It was really a total team effort. We have had balanced scoring and a better effort in our last four games,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.
Brooklyn Badgett scored 16 points and Emilee Whitt hit four 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead South Point (9-6, 5-3).
Chesapeake (10-5, 5-4) was led by Natalee Hall with a game-high 19 points. Brooke Webb added eight points.
Five different players scored for South Point and the game was tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. Hall scored six points for Chesapeake.
The Lady Pointers surged ahead 29-19 at the half as Whitt hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points.
Hall answered with 10 points in the third quarter as Chesapeake cut the deficit to 37-33.
But Badgett scored 11 points in the fourth quarter including 3-of-3 from the foul line as each team scored 17 points.
Karli Davis scored six points and Dominique Murphy had four points for the Lady Panthers.
“Whitt had a big second quarter and Badgett sealed the game in the fourth quarter with defense and foul shots down the stretch,” said Adams.
“Everyone contributed. Both teams played hard.”
On Thursday, South Point hosts Portsmouth and Chesapeake entertains Rock Hill.
Last Saturday, Chesapeake beat Greenup County, Ky., 54-43 as Hall had 20 points and five rebounds while Jozy Jones added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
