Aaron Christian
Jan. 31, 1992 — Oct. 18, 2016
Aaron Jackson Christian, 24, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. The Ironton native was born Jan. 31, 1992, the son of Jack and Carrie Christian of Ironton and Leah Rae Osborne of Ironton.
Aaron was a 2010 graduate of Ironton High School and attended the Collins Career Center Police Academy. He was a Chesapeake Police Officer and a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Ironton. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, being outdoors and spending time with family and good friends. His main goal in life was being a good father to his only daughter, Alaina Brooke Christian, and to service the public as a police officer. He never met a stranger; once he knew you, you were a friend for life and you could count on a big hug the next time he met you.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Donna Osborne; grandparents, Wad and Jan Christian; and sister, Nikki Christian.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Alaina Brooke Christian and her mother, the love of his life, Megan Fields; brothers and sisters, Jason, Keela, Tyler, Kyle, Kelsey, Isaiah, Gracie, Jade, Merrilyn, Robbie, Tasha, Jake and Tyler D.; his grandfather, William Osborne; and grandmother, Betty Webb.
He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Ironton High School with the Rev. Steve Harvey and J.D. Crockrel officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at Ironton High School. Vandalia Stephenson
May 18, 1927 — Oct. 14, 2016
Vandalia “Van” L. Stephenson, 89, of Moundsville, West Virginia, wife of the late Thomas B. Stephenson, went to be with her Savior on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016.
Van was born May 18, 1927, in Lawrence County, the second of three daughters born to the late Walter and Edith Faverty. She graduated from South Point Delta High School in 1945 and continued her education at St. Mary’s School of Nursing as a member of the United States Nurse Corps, graduating in 1948.
She worked for several years as a registered nurse and then as a homemaker and mother. Van was a Christian and an active member of Moundsville Baptist Church, serving in many roles over the years, most recently as a member of the flower committee. She loved traveling with her husband, eating out with friends and family, shopping, baking and crafting. Sending cards and notes was just one of the many ways that Van showed her thoughtfulness.
Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Stephenson; her parents, Walter and Edith Faverty; and her sisters, Florence Catherine Faverty and Wanda Jean Christian.
Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Peter) Sutton, of Charleston, West Virginia; her sons, Michael (Julie), of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Paul (Stephanie), of Hanahan, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Cantrell and Anna (Joshua) Lucas, of Charleston, West Virginia, Nikki (Steven) Driggers, of Hanahan, South Carolina, and William Stephenson, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her great-granddaughters, Elliott and Sailor Driggers, of Hanahan, South Carolina, and Sadie Cantrell, of Charleston, West Virginia; a nephew, William Christian, of South Point; and niece, Barbara Beam, of Ashland, Kentucky.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with the Rev. J. Thomas Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Langdon Cemetery, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 10-11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moundsville Baptist Church flower fund, 4th St. and Annandale Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041.

Joseph William Hacker, 73, of Ironton, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Jackie Thomas (Tom “Hulk”) Moore, 62, of Ironton, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at his residence.

Lisa Marie Bernard, 51, of Pedro, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is in charge of arrangements.

Brent Spillman, 58, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Ironton, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016. Funeral service will be noon Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, Kentucky. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Carolyn Ann Riley, 71, of Whitehall, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Riley. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
