Scott Dickess Sr.

Nov. 5, 1967 — Sept. 24, 2016

Scott Allen Dickess, Sr., of Houston, Texas, passed away suddenly on Sept. 24, 2016. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, on Nov. 5, 1967, he was the older of two children born to Gordon and Carol Dickess.
Scott attended South Point High School in South Point. He joined the United States Air Force as a Fuels Specialist. He served his country honorably for four years. Scott attended Shawnee State, where he pursued a degree in computer science and business management. He later became the proud father of two children, Scott and Tabatha. Mr. Dickess was employed by Star Transport LLC in Houston, Texas, as a terminal manager. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Scott became an ordained minister and a licensed scuba diver. He was also a talented musician. His personal time was joyous, as he loved playing with his grandchildren. Outside of his grandchildren, he loved the outdoors and regularly engaging in camping, fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle. Scott also enjoyed barbecuing, golfing, boating and was even an avid collector of various items.
He is survived in death by his father, Gordon Dickess; a sister, Angela Taylor; his daughter, Tabatha Dickess; his son and his wife, Scott and Krystal Dickess, as well as their daughters, Josie and Kristen.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point with the Rev. Mike Greene officiating. Friends and family may call from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Oscar Waiters Jr.

Oscar S. Waiters, Jr., 53, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Huntington. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation will be noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Lois Uittenbogaard

Lois Maris Uittenbogaard, 100, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Patricia Hughes

Patricia G. Hughes, 63, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Cook officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of Services on Saturday. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Chapel.

James Collingsworth

James D. (Jimmy) Collingsworth, 57, of Coal Grove, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Collingsworth. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Jeremy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery, Pedro.
