Leo Unger

March 18, 1923 — Sept. 27, 2016

Leo Unger, 93, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Kentucky. He was born March 18, 1923, in Ironton, the son of the late Charles J. and Mary F. Massie Unger.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the K of C Ironton and a WWII veteran serving in the Army Field Artillery Battalion B. He retired from C&O railroad.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eileen Scherer Unger; and children include one daughter, Linda (Mark) Decker; five sons, Tom (Pat) Unger, Jim Unger, Mark (Pat) Unger, John Unger, Paul (Susan) Unger; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by one brother, Charles Unger; and two sisters, Joan Moorman and Louise Farrand.
The family would like to recognize and give a special thanks to the staff at Oakmont Manor for their care of Leo. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chester Castle

Feb. 26, 1941 — Sept. 28, 2016

Chester Castle, 75, of Galion, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Signature Care Nursing Home in Galion. Chester was born on Feb. 26, 1941, in South Webster, a son of the late Arlie J. and Estalene Donaldson Castle.
He married Beatrice Wilson Castle on July 3, 1962. Together they had a very large family.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Myron) Walter, of Ontario, Chester (Valerie) Castle, of Shiloh, Arlie (Cathy) Castle, of Ironton, Tony (Carla) Castle, of Crestline, James (Stephanie) Castle, of Galion, Clyde (Holly) Ferguson, of Hanging Rock, and Betty Baldwin, of Ironton; his twin brother, Lester Castle, of Galion; brother, Alfred (Sue) Castle, of Galion; sister, Sharon (John) Schaffranek, of Galion; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Castle, of Ironton.
He is also survived by Alice Poole Castle, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren were his “Pride and Joy” and he loved spending time with each of them.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Beatrice Castle; his son, Andy; a daughter, Judy; brothers, Arlie, Ralph and Raymond Castle; his sisters, Myrtle Schwab and Phyllis Williams; as well as great-granddaughters, Bridget and Brittany Miller.
He was well known for his strong belief and passion for preaching the Word of God. He was previously pastor at the Apostolic Church of God, Franklin Furnace, and had been a pastor for 30 plus years. His favorite bible verse was Acts 2:38. He also retired from Perfection Colby in Galion.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Church of God in Hanging Rock, with Elder Glenn Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Larry Edmonds

Larry Lee Edmonds, 70, of South Point, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Judy Edmonds.  There will be no services.  Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Lewis

Linda Diane Lewis, 64, of South Point, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Terry Lewis. Ronald Carter

Ronald Duane Carter, 55, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Alice Blake Carter. Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
