SOUTH POINT — A cruise-in is set for Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Tri-State Worship Center.
Proceeds from the event will go to fund the church’s Operation Christmas Child activities, coordinator Vickie Edwards said.
The event will also feature a bean dinner, craft show and motorcycle show. Admission is free, and the fee for motorcycles and vehicles is $10, she said.
Hot dogs, refreshments, a 50/50 raffle and music from the 1950s and ‘60s will be offered, Edwards said.
Funds raised from the event, now in its third year, will fund gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
“We’ve been doing it for eight years,” Edwards said. “We send gift boxes, or Gospel Opportunity Boxes, as we call them, to children in war stricken countries.”
The boxes contain items such as school supplies, washcloths, soap and toothbrushes,” Edwards said.
“They’re things my kids and grandkids take for granted,” she said.
Operation Christmas Child is coordinated by Samaritan’s Purse, based in North Carolina, a faith-based organization founded in 1970. The Rev. Franklin Graham has served as the organization’s president since 1979.
