Consistency helps Ironton golfers win

PINE GROVE — Consistency is becoming the key for the Ironton Fighting Tigers’ golf team.

For the second straight match, Ironton posted a 182-team score and this time it was good for first place in a three-team matchup.

Ironton has the 182 with the Portsmouth Trojans posting a 189 total and the Rock Hill Redmen had a 200 score.

Mitchell Weisgarber and Chandlere Dodson each carded a 42 to pace the Fighting Tigers. Mason Slagel had a round of 45, Trevor Hacker shot a 53 and James Vallance was next with a 65.

Austin Jones shot a 41 for Portsmouth. William Sturgill was two shots back at 43, Katy Pertuset had a 50 and Reece Johnson a 55.

Rock Hill’s Logan Reed grabbed medalist honors with an impressive round of 35. Jason Haywood and Chase Nelson each shot a 53 and Austin Riddle added a 59.

Ironton’s next scheduled match is against the South Point Pointers at Sugarwood on Wednesday.
