Larry Gool

Larry G. Gool, 81, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born May 1, 1935, the son of the late Mary Francis Ball and Fred Gool. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie L. Johnson Gool, whom he married on June 2, 1966.

Larry attended Ironton High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the city of Ironton for 28 years and Wilson Sporting Goods for 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife and parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Gool and Joe Eddie Gool.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Francis Gool, of Ironton, and Danny Joe Gool, of Ironton; one daughter, Joyce (Gene) Richards, of Columbus; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Gloria Hamilton

Gloria Faye “Tootie” Hamilton, 77, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley. The Pike County, Kentucky native was born March 18, 1939, the daughter of the late Paul Virgin and Dixie Butler Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Hamilton.

Gloria attended Pike County School Systems in Kentucky and was a nurse’s aid at Doctors North Hospital in Columbus for 20 years, where she retired in 1983. She was of the Baptist faith. She also greatly enjoyed going to Bingo.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James “Butch” Hamilton; a grandson, Jason Hamilton; and two brothers, Daryl and Daniel Davis.

She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Myron) Gould, of Pedro; a son, Roger “Bo” (Kim) Hamilton, of Ironton; a sister, Connie (Terry Lee) Mowery, of Ironton; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery.
