Barbara Spriggs

Jan. 11, 1937 — Aug. 13, 2016

Barbara Sue Spriggs, 79, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Aug.13, 2016, at Heartland of Portsmouth. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 11, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles Sherman Stanley and Thelma E. Porter Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carlos E. Dilley.

Ms. Spriggs was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a former chief tax and water clerk for the City of Ironton. She was a member of the First Tabernacle Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Harold Spriggs; two sisters, Charlotte Miller and Mary Lou Stanley; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Payne and Juanita Linn.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Sue (Richard) Rogers, of Kingsport, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Ryan Andrew Allen, John “Aaron” Allen and Richard “Colton” Rogers; and one great-grandchild, Miah Kynslee Allen.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Danny Pancake officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Friday at the funeral home. Ronnie Murdock

Ronnie Earl Murdock, 50, of Kenova, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.
