EMS reports runs

Lawrence County EMS had a record month this July with 1,013 runs. That is compared to the approximately 900 that is typical.
The most runs went to King’s Daughters Medical Center with 259 or 26 percent. That is followed by St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington with 225 or 22 percent.
The destination with the least number of runs was Southern Ohio Medical Center with two. The report was made at Lawrence County Commission’s Thursday meeting.
The following EMTs, Samantha Wood, Nathaniel Srofe, Tara Lands and Adam Estep, are scheduled to be hired as are the following paramedics, Logan McCallister and Michael Meadows.
Also at the meeting the commissioners:
• Awarded a contract for county-township resurfacing projects to Shelly Company in the amounts of $554,675.40 and $222,852.10;
• Approved contract with Workforce Development Board for 2016-2017;
• Received the weekly dog warden report where two dogs were euthanized; 27 were adopted or went to rescue and one dog was redeemed by its owner.
