Doris Gettys
Doris Jean Gettys, 80, of South Point, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at a local health care facility in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born May 19, 1936, a daughter to the late William and Jewell (Myers) Massie. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Keith R. Gettys, who passed away Oct. 29, 1985.
Mrs. Gettys was a graduate of Waterloo High School. She also attended Rio Grande College and then went onto Marshall University where she acquired a degree in elementary education. She was a schoolteacher for 30 plus years with South Point and Chesapeake Elementary, where she retired in 1985. Doris was a member of the Waterloo Order of the Eastern Star, the United Methodist Women and the Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Massie and Gordon Massie; and a caregiver, Virgie Johnson.
Mrs. Gettys is survived by daughter, Diana (Mike Temple) Gettys, of South Point; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Hughes, of Jackson, and Jay Blair, of Circleville; brother-in-law, David Gettys, of Ironton; four nephews, Bill Massie, of Circleville, John Musgrave, of Oklahoma, Danny Musgrave, of Cheshire, and Harry Musgrave, of Chesapeake; and caregivers, Cathy Clark, Teresa Davis, Beth Runyon, Candace Lanham, Brittany Johnson and Gary Clark.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Timothy Bone
Timothy Dale Bone, 59, of Proctorville, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Jill Leffingwell Bone Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville by pastor Brady Lipscomb. Dianna Fuller
Dianna Jo Fuller, 55, of Proctorville, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Phyllis Johnson
Phyllis Irene “Flip” (Maynard) Johnson, 78, of Ironton passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Accoville, West Virginia, native was born Sept. 7, 1937, a daughter to the late Clyde and Christine (Nelson) Maynard. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson attended Accoville schools. Phyllis went on to work as a bartender in the Tri-State for over 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8850 and lifetime Kentucky Colonel. She also chaired cancer and orphanage fundraising for several years earning the post national recognition.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Jeanette (Johnny Bob) Linn, of Ironton, and Christy (Bob) Shears, of Kitts Hill; three sons, Keith (Kelly) Johnson, of Ironton, Ronald “Dooley” Maynard, of Ironton, and Jimmy Maynard, of Ironton; three sisters, Marguerite (Mike) Curry, of South Point, Dot Maynard, of Ironton, and Merlena Maynard, of Portsmouth; two brothers, Mike Maynard, of Ironton, and Butch Maynard, of South Point; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Johnson; and three brothers, Aaron “Buddy” Maynard, Charles Maynard and Darrell Maynard.
A remembrance service will be 7 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Chaplain Randy Tate officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.

Billy Mac Hardy, 60, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at home. Fredrick “Fred” K, McClure, 80, of South Point, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. He is survived by his wife, Annie Callender McClure.
