ASHLAND, Ky. — The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, along with the Eastern Kentucky Military Historical Society are presenting the third annual Ashland Downtown Walking Tour Saturday, June 11, after rain canceled the event’s original May 21 date.
The tour stops at different points on Winchester Avenue, and this year will have a special emphasis on the 1950s and 60s.
“The tour focuses on downtown Ashland and Ashland has a really rich history,” Emily Roush, education and marketing director at the museum, said. “There’s pictures spread out downtown comparing what that spot looked like at a certain time in history compared to now. People find it really interesting to see what was where and to engage in the history of our community.”
Roush added that knowledgeable volunteers from the museum or the historical society will give the tours throughout the day.
Tours will be given every 15 minutes from 9 a.m.-noon. Tickets are now available for $10 in advance or $15 the day of. For more information, call the museum at 606-329-8888.
