LATHAM — It’s down to the nitty gritty.

After routing the Western Indians 17-2 in five innings on Friday, the Green Bobcats will now prepare for their Division IV sectional tournament final on Tuesday against Manchester followed by a Southern Ohio Conference showdown for first place on Thursday at Portsmouth Notre Dame.

“We’re starting to hit on all cylinders right now. We looking to keep that going as we go into some crucial games next week,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.

Green (13-9, 10-1) collected 13 hits led by Hunter Lewis who was 3-4 with three runs batted in.

Tayte Carer was w2-3 with a double, Tyler Darnell 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Tanner Kimbler was 2-4 with a double.

Green scored four runs in the first inning.

One run scored on an error, Hayden Whitis had a two-run single and Lewis singled in a run.

The Bobcats went up 7-0 in the second, Tayte Carver had a double, Josh Karshner a two-run double and Trevor Carver grounded out to drive in a run.

Green got four more runs in the top of the third on just two hits. Two runs scored on wild pitches and Tayte Carver doubled in a run.

After Western scored twice in the third, Green got two runs in the fourth.

Lewis reached on an error, Darnell walked and Kimbler doubled both runners home in the fourth.

The final four runs scored in the fifth.

Austin Bailey had a one-out single, Jacob McKenzie walked and Lewis singled them home after a wild pitch. Andy Chavarria walked and Lewis singled to drive in two more.

Tayte Carver — the second of four pitchers — got the win. He struck out four and walked one.
