Paul Birkel
April 12, 1923—Feb. 6, 2016
Paul Alden (Hoot) Birkel, 92, of Ironton, passed away Saturday Feb. 6, 2016, at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley. He was born in Lawrence County on April 12, 1923, to the late Benjamin and Martha Estes Birkel. He was retired from Valley Canteen Sales. He was a proud WWII U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of VFW 8850. He was a member Centenary Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his wife Clarice Bryant Birkel; one daughter, Dreama Cox; sister, Lucille Hoefler, and brother Jim Birkel. He is survived by a daughter Debbie (Craig) Haney of Deering; one son Bryan (Kara) Birkel of Ironton; OH, son in law James Winston Cox of Deering;, grandchildren Heather (Matt) Mullens, Jordyn (Reggie) Arden, Kyle Birkel and Brady Birkel and one great grandchild Brynleigh Nicole Birkel.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at Community Cemetery with Tony Lykins officiating. Post 8850 will be performing military graveside services. The family would like to thank The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley staff and Community Hospice.
Darrell Booth
Darrell Eugene Booth, 76, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at home. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ruth Booth, of Proctorville. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
Calvin Kersey
Calvin Duane Kersey, 52, of Pedro, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
