SP man charged with rape

SOUTH POINT — A South Point man is facing rape charges following his arrest on Sunday.
According to a South Point Police report, Frederick Deshawn Martin, 43, of County Road 1, was arrested after an incident at a home on Roberts Street at 3 a.m. Sunday.
Martin is charged with one count of rape, one count of drug trafficking and one count of felonious assault. According to the police report, officers suspected Martin was using drugs.
A firearm was confiscated, according to police chief Chris Mahjer.
Martin remains in the Lawrence County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
His next court date is Monday for a preliminary hearing in Lawrence County Municipal Court. Huntington attorney Roger Smith was assigned to represent Martin.
