The Briggs Lawrence County Public Library system collected 561 items for their annual Mitten Tree drive.
Joe Jenkins, director of the libraries, said the drive included mittens, scarves, socks, hats and 18 blankets, 16 of which were handmade. In addition, many of the scarves were knitted by donors.
All items donated to the drive will go to the Ironton City Mission, the Chesapeake Community Center, Michael’s Grace Place in South Point and South Point Nazerene Church for distribution to the needy.
