SOUTH POINT — The South Point Board of Education will meet in special session today to discuss hiring a freshman basketball coach for the high school.

Superintendent Mark Christian said the meeting, set for 3 p.m. is to review applications for the position and then make a recommendation to hire.

“We’ve had volunteers working with them, but we need to get them a coach and somebody to ride the bus with them,” he said. “They’re already playing games.

Christian said he expects the business to take about five to 10 minutes and that the board already has a recommendation for the spot.
