SOUTH POINT — The South Point Village Council officially appointed a new interim administrator on Tuesday.
Russ McDonald has been named to the post, council member Mary Cogan said.
He will hold the position until the next South Point mayor, Jeff Gaskin, begins his term on Jan. 1. Gaskin will name a permanent replacement to the position.
Cogan said it is possible McDonald could be asked to stay on the job.
The post became vacant following the resignation of Pat Leighty, 76, after he was cited by Huntington police on Oct. 19. Police said he solicited a prostitute while in an official village vehicle.
Leighty paid a $495 fine in Huntington Municipal Court and the case has been closed, a court official said.
