COAL GROVE — Law enforcement authorities have identified the victim of a Sunday stabbing as Charles L. Huffer.
Huffer, 38, of 506 Marion Pike Lot 1, was stabbed at his home at approximately 8:10 p.m.
“Mr. Huffer was in a domestic dispute with his companion, Desiree Grenier, 31, when she stabbed him,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said.
Huffer was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he died from wounds in the chest made by a kitchen knife.
Coal Grove police and fire departments and Lawrence County EMS arrived at the scene. However, the sheriff’s office was asked to take over the investigation.
“Specific details of the situation cannot be released at this time,” Lawless said. “I have been in consultation with prosecuting attorney Brigham Anderson. He has decided not to file charges at this time, but will present the case to the grand jury.”
