The St. Joseph Flyers got their work done early.

The Flyers scored all their goals in the first half as they beat the Chesapeake Panthers 5-3 on Tuesday in a soccer game.

St. Joseph (4-3-3) took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Dylan Arrington just two minutes into the game.

Chesapeake (5-3) tied the game 10 minutes later on an unassisted goal by Koton Webb, but the Flyers ran off four unanswered goals to lead 5-1 at the half.

“This was a hard-fought game by both teams,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.

“Chesapeake is a solid team and made nice adjustments for the second half to mount a comeback. It was a good team effort by both teams.”

Arrington had another unassisted goal at the 14:00 mark to give St. Joseph the lead for good.

Peyton Adkins scored three minutes later off an assist from Blake Balestra. Tre Neal had an unassisted goal at the 22:00 mark and Zac McGraw scored with 35:00 on the clock as Adkins got the assist.

Chesapeake’s second half goals were by Wesley Stephens with an assist by Webb and an unassisted shot by Dalton Nida.

Goalie Joey Bush had 10 saves while the Panthers’ Blake Ridenour had 11 saves.

St. Joseph hosts South Point at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Chesapeake visits Greenup County, Ky., on Monday.
