CHESAPEAKE — The Village of Chesapeake will soon host its annual Octoberfest complete with a parade and live entertainment.
The festival begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 with a flag raising and opening ceremony kicking off the event. The festival will be at the Triangle Park in Chesapeake and will last all day.
“It’s open to the public,” said Chesapeake Mayor Dick Gilpin. “We keep it family friendly. It’s not expensive (to attend).”
Inflatables and pony rides will be available for children and the fire department will sponsor a parade beginning at 11 a.m. Vendors will provide food during the event and there will be a car show.
Music will be by bluegrass, country, church and school bands.
“It will all be live entertainment,” said Gilpin. “We’ll have a little bit of everything, all local.”
