The St. Joseph Flyers found that time was on their side.

The Flyers kept the ball and limited Portsmouth West’s time as St. Joseph blanked the Senators 6-0 in a soccer game on Tuesday.

“Our defensive backs were strong and didn’t give Portsmouth West any time on the ball,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.

“Tyler Ward, Judge Williams, Clay Willis, Daniel Hodges and Seth Kelley were solid defenders and transitioned the ball well in our attack. Our midfield played well and made excellent passes to keep our attack going. It was a good team effort.”

Peyton Adkins and Alexander Ward had two goals each and Dylan Arrington three assists to lead the Flyers (2-2-2).

Bradley Rist scored on a penalty kick as St. Joseph built a 5-0 halftime lead and coasted in the second half.

Goalkeeper Joey Bush recorded 10 saves.
