Community Hospice employee honored

Wilma Justice, director of the Community Hospice Care Center, was recently honored at the Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care (KAHPC) Annual Conference.

Justice received the “Above and Beyond Award” at the KAHPC Annual Awards Dinner held in Louisville, Kentucky on Aug. 27. The award is presented to an individual who goes beyond their normal responsibilities to promote the hospice mission and advocate for end-of-life care.

Justice is a 22 year employee of Community Hospice. As director of the Community Hospice Care Center, she is currently responsible for the overall operations of the 15-bed inpatient facility, overseeing the day-to-day operations, patient care, personnel, etc.

She has held a variety of positions in social work, bereavement and spiritual care during her tenure at Community Hospice. She also helped to found and direct Camp Nabe, the children’s bereavement camp.

Justice received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Morehead State University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. Additionally, she certification in Thanatology and is a licensed certified hospice social worker. She and her husband, Harmie, reside in Grayson.

Community Hospice is a not-for-profit organization providing quality end-of-life care since 1979.

Community Hospice serves more than 1,100 patients annually in Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Lawrence, and Elliott, Johnson and Martin counties in Kentucky, along with Lawrence and Scioto counties, Ohio.
