Myrtle Riggsby

Myrtle A. Riggsby, went to the garden to be with her Lord on May 18, 2015, while at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Radcliff, Kentucky. She was strong enough to sing her favorite hymn, “In the Garden,” to two friends a few hours before fully seeing Him.

She graduated from Waterloo High School during the glory days of the Wonders and loved to share stories about Waterloo with other residents of the nursing home. She served as Ray’s devoted wife while accompanying him around the world or waiting on his return from war.

She is preceded in death by her father, George Null; and her mother, Pearle Colwell Null; and her sister, Louise; and Myrtle’s husband, Ltc. Raymond M. Riggsby.

She is survived by her son, Lewis Dale Riggsby, and his daughter, Carey Lou Faith Speer. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Deborah Riggsby officiating.  Harold Jeter

Harold C. Jeter, 94, of South Point, passed into eternity Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. Harold was a proud veteran of World War II, serving as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 511th Service Squadron. He was a life-long resident of Lawrence County and was employed by Henrite Manufacturing and Ashland Oil, Inc.

Harold was a member of the South Point Church of the Nazarene and the South Point First Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mabel; and children, Carole (Arthur) Broughton, of South Point and Hal (Teresa) Jeter, of Ashland, Kentucky. He adored his five grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Broughton, Joe (Billee) Butcher, Ginny Morrison, Gary (Tia) Broughton, and Leslie (Rocky) Fannin; as well as his 10 great-grandchildren and very special friends, Ishmael and Sharon Stevens.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Bransford and Lillian Jeter; and siblings William, Roberta, Willis, Edith, Allen and James.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton and memorial service 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 8850.

 Alma Daniels

July 6, 1921 — Sept. 10, 2015

Alma Daniels, 94, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at a local health care facility. The Johnson County, Kentucky native was born July 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Claude W. and Mary J. Collins McFadden.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Daniels, who passed away in 1980. Mrs. Daniels was a graduate of Inez High School and a homemaker. During WWII she worked at the Oak Ridge Atomic Plant, where she helped make atomic bombs and airplanes in Detroit, Michigan. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Luthur McFadden and Claude McFadden; and six sisters, Dixie Rowe, Grace Sublett, Rita Tackett, Josephine Baldwin, Faye Grosse and Roehima Mollette.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Barbara) Daniels, of Russell, Kentucky and Gary (Patty) Daniels, of South Point; six grandchildren, Lori (Greg) Babiarz, Leslie (Tim) Stamper, Amanda Smoot, Jami (Matt) Dean, Jason Hunt and Jason (Erica) Allen; and seven great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Jarred, Peyton, Natalie, Carlee, Austin, Wyatt and Silas.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Corky O’Bryant officiating.  Robert Moore, Jr.

Robert Lee Moore, Jr., 67, of Greenup, Kentucky, died on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Adams-Moore. Funeral services will be on Monday at 1 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with entombment to follow at Rosehill Burial Park in Ashland.
