Shoppers will have a chance to sample locally grown corn during the corn festival this Saturday at the Ironton Farmers Market. Boiled corn on the cob will be provided free of charge to marketgoers. The corn will be provided through farmers market vendors in partnership with Ironton in Bloom.
“This is a program they have to get donations,” said Sam Heighton, manager of the farmers market.
The event is a way to raise funds for Ironton in Bloom and also encourage locals to come shop at the market.
“It’s always a big day when there’s free food,” said Heighton. “It gives people a way to donate.”
A donation box will be available at the event for shoppers to donate to Ironton in Bloom. Corn will be served from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
