As I look at the flags as they fly in our city, I often wonder if any one knows where they came from.

In 1977 my Father, Frank Vecellio, was on city council. He approached council about purchasing flags and holders to place on poles around the city. At that time there was no money available in the budget for this kind of purchase.

So Frank Vecellio purchased flags and holders with his own money and had them mounted around the city. Frank Vecellio passed away suddenly on Aug. 7, 1977.

He never got to see the flags and enjoy their beauty. The first time they were flown was the day of his funeral.
