Timothy Pfeiffer

Jan. 9, 1950 — April 30, 2015

Timothy Charles Pfeiffer Sr., 65, of South Point, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his residence. The Bay Village native was born Jan. 9, 1950, a son of the late Robert Raymond and Geraldine Eva Hendricks Pfeiffer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda L. Coleman Pfeiffer, whom he married May 15, 1976.

Mr. Pfeiffer attended Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a former security guard with Pinkerton Security and Camden Park. He was also an avid collector and a member of the DAV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Robin Butler.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Pfeiffer Jr. and his wife Tina, and Thomas J. Pfeiffer and his wife, Nipuni, all of Coal Grove; a daughter, Barbara Ann Salmons and her husband, Lee, of Prichard, West Virginia; a brother, Michael G. Pfeiffer of Maryland; three grandchildren, Kacy Lee, Anna Renae and Kazlie Christen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Phillips Funeral Home, with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery and visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Matt Spencer, Mike Brown, Matt Whitt, Tommy Pfeiffer, Kacy Pfeiffer, Tim Pfeiffer, Lee Salmons and Pat Neville. Evelene Smith

Oct. 30, 1927—May 1, 2015

Evelene “Evelyn” Smith, 87, of South Point, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton. She was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Martin County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Henry and Maudie Bradford Stepp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Smith and a son, Jerry Smith.

Evelyn was a retired employee of South Point High School. Survivors include her children, Sheila (Tom) Richardson of Lexington, Kentucky, Mike Smith of Richmond, Indiana, Kathy (Jim) Johnston of Ft. Worth, Texas, Randy (Kathy) Smith of South Point, Rusty (Carol) Smith of South Point, Eric “Scoot” (Sandra) Smith of South Point, Kim (Jeff) Hudson of Cincinnati, Teresa Hall of Ashville, John (Sue) Smith of Ashville, and Crystal Smith of Ashville; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Granville (Geneva) Stepp of Howell, Michigan, and Landon (Peggy) Stepp of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be at noon on Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Robert Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Roy Johnston

Roy Edward Johnston, 67, of Proctorville, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.  A graveside service will be conducted at noon today at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. There will be no visitation.  Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Ambrose Monnig

July 16, 1928—April 30, 2015

Ambrose John Monnig, 86, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his residence.  Mr. Monnig was born July 16, 1928, in Ironton, a son of the late Otto Steven and Mary Agnes (Boll) Monnig.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Frances “Francie” (Schmeisser) Monnig.

Mr. Monnig was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1951 graduate of Xavier College where he received his bachelor’s degree.  Mr. Monnig was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a superintendent for AK Steel.  He was a member of St. Joseph Church and loved riding his bike.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Clara Wilds; and two brothers, Otto Monnig, Jr. and Paul Monnig.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters,  Carol Dillon of Bradenton, Florida, Mary Davis of Ironton, Nancy (Jim) Kennelly of Circleville, and Janet (Paul) Boyle of Lexington, Kentucky; three sons, John (Karen) Monnig of Lebanon, Robert (Cathy) Monnig and Jeffery Monnig of Ironton; two sisters, Ann Sommer of Lebanon and Sister Regina Monnig of Minnesota; brother, Ted Monnig of Ironton; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of friends who will miss him dearly

A Christian Mass will be 11 a.m.  Monday at St. Joseph Church with Father David Huffman officiating.
