Female Flyers now 9-0

NEW BOSTON — Like Ol’ Man River, the St. Joseph Female Flyers just keep rollin’ along.
The Female Flyers continued their winning ways to open the season with a ninth straight victory as they beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 61-39 on Monday.
“It’s been a good start for us. We never thought about being 9-0. We just hope we can keep getting better. There are still a lot of good teams out there ahead of us,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.
Hannah Miller scored 20 points and Amber Neal had 19 to lead the Female Flyers. Ali Hamilton had 16 points and Ciji Thompson 12 for New Boston.
The Female Flyers jumped out to a 15-7 first quarter lead as Neal scored 5 points and Lynsey Booker and Miller got 4 each.
Miller had 8 points and Neal 5 more in the second quarter to take a 35-19 halftime lead. Hamilton and Thompson combined for all 12 points in the quarter for New Boston.
Miller had 8 more points and Neal scored 7 as St. Joseph extended its lead to 57-34.
St. Joseph visits Raceland, Ky., on Monday.
In the reserve game, the Female Flyers won the two-quarter game 14-0.
