PROCTORVILLE — Saturday, Dec. 20, the village of Proctorville had its annual Christmas party for the children of the village.
An anonymous donor given money each year to have the party and buy gifts for the children.
“This was the 13th year that we’ve had this party,” Rick Dunfee, mayor of Proctorville, said. “It started out in the Proctorville Fire Department garage, but has since been moved to the bingo hall in the fire department.”
The children and their families took part in games and activities at the party, which also included a magician and a special visit from Santa Claus.
There were between 150 and 175 people there and about half were youth, Dunfee said.
The party is organized and run all by volunteers that setup, help with the food and wrap all of the gifts.
“We passed out gifts to all of the kids there from birth to about 12 or 13 years old,” Dunfee said. “No kid went without a present.”
The village also purchased hams and made fruit bags to give to the senior citizens of the village for the holidays.
