Walter Hensley

Walter Butch Hensley, 69, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

Butch was a 1964 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a retired dispatcher from the Matlack Trucking Company out of Louisville, Kentucky. He lived in Clearwater, Florida, before coming back to the place he loved, Coal Grove, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Shope Hensley and parents, Elsie Hensley Neal and Sullivan and Erma Ball Hensley.

He is survived by a sister, Rita (Jon) Allen, of Coal Grove, and a niece, Jill (Mark) Dean, of Maryland.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Beals officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section of Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 8850.
