Lady Pointers get OVC volleyball win over Lady Dragons

SOUTH POINT — It turned out to be a good night in a lot of ways for the South Point Lady Pointers.

In their annual Volley for the Cure volleyball game on Tuesday, the Lady Pointers won all three sets as they beat the Fairland Lady Dragons in an Ohio Valley Conference match.

Senior Charlee Duncan, Halie Powell and Brenna Childers combined for 38 service points including 5 aces by Duncan, 3 by Powell and 2 for Childers.

Up front on offense Mackenzie Fugitt and Olivia Abner had 6 kills each while Haley Rawlins led with 14 assists.

Childers also had a big game as the libero with 28 digs for the Lady Pointers who had just two serve receive errors out of 45 attempts.

In the reserve match, South Point won in three sets as Abby Hannah had 5 aces, Hope Alysworth 11 digs, Madison Kearns 11 assists and Leah Lawson 7 kills.

South Point (15-3) hosts Chesapeake on Thursday.
