Lady Panthers end week on winning note

CHESAPEAKE — What began as a bad week finished well.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers dropped two volleyball games early last week but they rebounded to win an Ohio Valley Conference game to end the week.

On Thursday, Chesapeake beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets in three tough sets 27-25, 25-22 and 25-22 as Kelsey Huff scored 13 points.

Chesapeake won the reserve match 25-13, 25-17 with Brooke Webb and Natalee Hall getting seven points each.

The Lady Panthers started the week on Monday with a league loss to Portsmouth, 20-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 22-25. Huff had 19 points in the game.

The junior varsity lost in three sets 23-25, 25-11 and 15-25. McKenna Curry had 13 points for Chesapeake.

On Tuesday, Ironton down Chesapeake in four sets 20-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 22-25. Huff led the Lady Panthers with 12 points.

Chesapeake fell in the reserve match 11-25, 12-25. Curry had six points in the setback.

The Lady Panthers host Fairland on Tuesday and Rock Hill on Thursday in OVC game.

Lady Dragons fall

ALBANY — The Alexander Lady Spartans handed the Fairland Lady Dragons their first volleyball loss of the season on Saturday in four sets.

Fairland (4-1) fell 17-25, 25-17, 6-25 and 17-25.

Kelsey Riley had 14 points and Mackenzie Riley six blocks to lead the Lady Dragons.

In the reserve match, Alexander won 25-23, 25-21.

The Lady Dragons host Chesapeake on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference match.
