NOTES: Last year’s starting QB Kalieb Sheets transferred to Wahama, W.Va. Davis ran for 133 yards last year against the Hornets.

River Valley at Rock Hill

QB: Dayton Hardway returns for River Valley; Gabe Marzicola is back for Rock Hill.

RB: Justin Arrowood and Mark Wray return for Raiders; Redmen Chance Blankenship is one of the area’s best RBs.

WR: Raiders’ top receivers Kirk Morrow and Dustin Bickers are back; Redmen count on Austin Collins.

NOTES: Rock Hill won a shootout 39-31 last year.

Chesapeake at Oak Hill

QB: Clayton Christensen, Oak Hill. Injured before last season began and was the projected starter. He will placekick and punt; Austin Oldaker, Chesapeake, returns.

RB: Oaks; Matt Gilliland, Chris Coy, Tyler Trisch, Andrew Kerns, Willy Harris; Nate Smith and Maccoy Brown, Chesapeake.

NOTES: Oaks return 13 starters, 6 on defense including cornerback Jonathan Harrison, 7 offense. Besides experience, the Oaks have a lot of depth.

Fairland at Johnson Central

QB: Bryce Workman, JCHS; Chance Short, Fairland, threw for more than 2,000 yards last year.

RB: Patrick Rice, Gunner Slone, Morgan O’Brian, Connor Ratliff, Bryce Skaggs; Fairland: Nathan Campbell, Dylan Murphy.

WR: Timmy Dalton, JCHS, 437 yards last year; Trey Nestor, Trace Adkins, Hayden James, Fairland.

NOTES: Eagles lost their backfield including Daymion Belcher who transferred back to Paintsville.

Huntington Ross at Symmes Valley

QB: David Shoemaker, Ross, switched from WR two games into last season; Payton Hayes and Derek Smith. Hayes is a returning starter. Smith was injured last season.

South Point at Minford

QB: Drew Adams, SP, in first career start after injury to Gage Townson; Matt Joyce, Minford.

RB: Zach Justice, returning starter, Minford; James Leonard and Mason White, SP, both return.

WR: Tight end Jared Alley, Minford, returns: Stephan Wagoner, Brandon Layne, Keiondre Hill, SP, are all new.

NOTES: The loss of Townson for the season due to an ACL injury will force a dramatic change in the offense. The Pointers will shift from its “Air Raid: to a more running attack.
