My children and I had the privilege of experiencing our first Spray Park a few days ago in Ironton.

I want to thank everyone who had anything to do with bringing this great alternative to summer’s heat to Ironton.

The atmosphere around the park was one of fun and cooperation, and the free refreshment was simply divine. Swimming pools can be expensive for a family, and sort of scary for those with kids who aren’t swimmers yet.

My children, who are 6 and 3, had a great time. I hope the Spray Park is maintained in such a way that it can offer cooling for many years to come. The only thing I didn’t observe in the area was a restroom facility, though the signage in the park refers to using the restroom.

Maybe this improvement can be worked on. It wasn’t a problem that day for me, but I was thinking if it was I would have to use a local business’ bathroom, which I didn’t particularly want to do.

This is a great addition to the downtown area, and I can’t wait to visit again the next hot day.
