St. Mary’s Medical Center —Ironton Campus has been growing since the facility opened almost two years ago.
On Tuesday, St. Mary’s held an open house to showcase that growth to the community.
“We wanted to let people be able to see all the things we’ve offered and how much we’ve grown,” Angela Henderson-Bentley, St. Mary’s director of public relations, said. “It was also a chance for us to let the new physicians who are going to be seeing patients here for the first time get familiar with the facility.”
The Ironton Campus is a nearly full-service medical center able to provide imaging, lab screenings, bloodwork and much more to patients in the Ironton area. The only thing that can’t be done at the campus is surgeries. For those medical treatments patients are referred to St. Mary’s main campus in Huntington, W.Va.
“We have nine physicians who work out of this facility,” Henderson-Bentley said. “We are adding two more in the next month or so. So we are continuing to add and grow bringing new things here. As it stands surgeries are the only thing we really can’t do from here.”
The comprehensive care provided by the facility is a great help to Ironton’s residents especially the elderly population, Henderson-Bentley said.
“The people here need this in the community,” she said. “It is too hard for the elderly to run to Huntington for every appointment and we have a full staff who works very hard to provide everything possible for our patients.”
The open house lasted from 4-7 p.m. and included free refreshments and health screenings to those who attended.
