Hatler Robinson

Nov. 2, 1930-April 11, 2014

Hatler Robinson, 83, of Ironton, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at his residence after a brief illness. The Ironton native was born Nov. 2, 1930, the son of the late Jesse James Robinson and Ethel Bennett Robinson. He was married to Ruby Schug Robinson for 57 years who passed away on June 30, 2010.

Hatler was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired from Wilson’s Sporting Goods after 36 years as a glove lacer. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8850. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Owen Robinson; and five sisters, Lucille Kitts, Erma Miller, Garnet Hay, Evelyn Aldridge and Lena Collins.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Robinson of Kitts Hill; a son, Hatler Robinson (Gina) of Coal Grove; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Lucas of Kenova, W.Va.

He has eight grandchildren, Jeremy Morris (Kara), Erin Morris, Raelyn Robinson (Phillip), Leann Wissman (T.R.), Amanda Gully (Aaron), Sara Robinson, Samantha Robinson and Jenna Robinson; He also has seven great grandchildren, Shyanne, Aleigha, Chayce, Kye, Gavin, James and Samantha. He has two sisters-in-law, Donna Schug and Loretta Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother David Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Phillip Robinson, Aaron Gully, T.R. Joan Dutey

Jan. 7, 1929-April 11, 2014

Flora May “Joan” Melvin Dutey, 85, of Ironton, passed away April 11, 2014, at her residence.  The Ironton native was born Jan. 7, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Estelle Scott Melvin.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, John F. “Jack” Dutey, who passed away September 2000.

Mrs. Dutey was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School.  She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star, AREMA Club and Coal Grove Alumni Committee.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Ellen Wilson of Wylie, Texas, and Patricia Johnson of Ironton; a son,  James (Denise) Dutey of Ironton; brother,  Robert (Helen) Melvin of Coal Grove; eight grandchildren,  Scott (Amy) Morgan of Ashland, Ky., Sean (Jennifer) Wilson of Austin , Texas, Erica Wilson of Austin, Texas, Rebecca (Jonathan) Mannon of Ironton, Jessica (Michael) Huber of Ironton, John Lawhorn of Ironton, Holly Dutey of Ironton and Eric Dutey of Ironton; three great-grandchildren,  Abby Grace Huber of Ironton, Reese Wilson and Jack Wilson of Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Beals officiating.  Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking that contributions be made to Community Hospice 2025 S. Third St., Ironton, OH 45638. Carrie Heck

Carrie Irene Heck, 82, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va.  She is survived by her husband Homer Heck.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.  Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.    Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Charles Edward Cottle, 46, of Sciotoville, died his residence. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky.

 

Patricia Smith
