Bond set in drug trafficking case

IRONTON — An Ironton man accused of trafficking marijuana through the mail was arraigned Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court.
Ian Terril Edens, 25, of 517 N. Sixth St., Ironton, made an initial court appearance following his arrest Monday. Edens is charged with two second-degree counts of trafficking in drugs in the presence of juvenile and within the vicinity of a school.
Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety and a preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 18.
On Friday investigators with the sheriff’s office, drug and major crimes task force and U.S. postal inspectors began checking into two packages they deemed suspicious at the Ironton Post Office.
The two packages were to be delivered to two Ironton addresses.
A search warrant was obtained and the two packages were opened.
One of the packages contained 10.1 pounds of marijuana and was addressed to Edens at 715 Walnut St.
The other contained approximately 9 pounds marijuana and was addressed to Nicole Jones at 517 N. Sixth St.
