Kickoff for the Big Ten championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan State Spartans is 8:17 p.m. Saturday.

Tip-off time for some high school basketball will be, well, earlier.

To avoid a conflict, Ironton will make a rare starting time change by beginning its tripleheader against the Portsmouth Trojans Saturday at the Sports Center.

The freshmen will play at 2 p.m. followed by the junior varsity at approximately 3:30 and the varsity will tip-off at about 5 p.m.

The Chesapeake Panthers will play at Gallipolis on Saturday and the starting time for the jayvee game has been moved to 2 p.m. with the varsity at approximately 3:30.

The Rock Hill Redwomen host Northwest Saturday and they have moved the starting time of their jayvee game to 1 p.m.

The University Rio Grande women’s basketball program will host its High School Classic and three local teams — Chesapeake, South Point and Symmes Valley — are part of the lineup.

“I wanted to show these younger players what it’s like to play in a college environment and hopefully provide them with a memorable experience,” said Rio Grand assistant coach and Classic director Brandon Bias.

“With this slate of games we have on tap, it should be a very competitive day.”

Admission for the Classic is $5. Here is the schedule.
